Need Advice: How Should Beginners Approach Maths for UPSC?

I am starting my UPSC preparation and have some doubts about mathematics. For students who are not from a maths background, how should they build confidence and improve their problem-solving skills?

Which topics should beginners focus on first, and what resources or strategies helped you during your preparation?

I would also like to know how mathematics preparation benefits students interested in IFoS and Mathematics Optional.
