Why is it still so hard to get a chicken across the road?

I just spent 2 hours trying to beat my high score in Crossy Road and I’m not even mad. It’s the ultimate "just one more try" game.
For those who haven’t played it, it’s like a modern, endless version of Frogger with amazing voxel art. You dodge cars, trains, and eagles while trying to hop as far as possible. The best part is unlocking all the weird characters, I’m currently obsessed with the Unihorse.
