You can take most of the common raster files (like .jpg .png .gif etc) and convert them into vector formats like .ai .eps .svg and .pdf. When you get good vector conversion services, they'll carefully go through your design, trace out every element accurately and hand you a nice clean format that looks great on a print or a screen. Visuals Clipping's been really good at taking that old illustration, logo or artwork and turning it into a proper vector file that looks sharp on whatever you throw it on.
